I'm refurbishing old laptops for lockdown pupils, using Debian with Raspberry Pi Desktop for PC, as it's quite lightweight, has the Chromium browser, seems compatible with a vast range of old-to-middle-aged laptops, and has lots of child-friendly documentation.
